Who can become a PGR Educator?

  • Health professionals such as school and child health nurses, dietitians and health promotion officers, who work with children and families.

  • Canteen managers

The Cancer Council WA will train you to run parent workshops in your local school, childcare centre, playgroup or community group. The training is free.

Why train as a PGR Educator?

Build on your nutrition knowledge and improve your current practise. Learn how to present up-to-date child nutrition and physical activity information to parents in a fun and interesting way. Contribute to the health of young children by sharing your knowledge.

How can I train as a PGR Educator?

Training is run by the Cancer Council WA twice a year, or on an ‘as needed' basis. Training is FREE of charge (it is $10 to purchase the PGR manual). The training takes one full day and is held at the Cancer Council WA, in West Perth, or anywhere in WA if more than 10 people are attending. To register your interest in training please contact us.

You can now complete the PGR educator training online. The online training modules provide the necessary skills and knowledge to facilitate Parental Guidance Recommended workshops. To commence the training sign up to the PGR educator online training and begin completing the modules.

 This section of the website provides you with the support and resources to run your PGR sessions. Go to the Resources page to find an online version of the latest manual (December 2009). You will also find some handy fliers to advertise PGR workshops. Remember to come back often to make sure you have the latest version of the manual and to keep up to date with nutrition information by reading the news and articles.

Remeber to regularly report your PGR sessions on the reporting page. Reporting helps us to ensure funding and support for the program and you will go in the draw to win a prize pack.
